Thanks to Kim for hosting this and be sure to check out everyone and all their 'tea' treasures!
One day as I was driving around the block from my house I noticed a Yard Sale in the middle of the week, which was strange because we normally only have them on Saturday mornings here. Well I couldn't hold myself and stopped...... it was two nieces whose lil' old Great Aunt had passed on and they didn't care to keep anything of hers because it looked 'granny like' they said and they were not in the least interested. Well.........I came across this set all dusty in a worn old cardboard ripped box. I counted six cups, six saucers, six dessert plates and a matching cake plate. [I didn't take a picture of the cake plate as I don't know where it is in the house in my basemnet storage room. But it looks exactly like the dessert plates but bigger.]
They saw I was looking it over and they told me $2 and it's all yours. I said you mean a cup and saucer they said ......."no, the whole box" So I paid them and skipped to my car.
Hope you enjoy my tour..........
............dessert plate.
Design in the middle of the dessert plate......beautiful cornflowers.
This is stamped on the bottom of the dessert plates.
Thanks for stopping by and be sure to look at http://shabbypinkandpretty.blogspot.com/ for other Tea Things and some fun!
Oh my goodness! $2 for the whole box. I am SURE you skipped to the car. And probably floated all the way home. Great find! Those girls did not know what treasure they were giving away.

ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely the best buy I've ever heard of...ever! I don't think I could even move, let alone skip! Did you laugh all the way home? I would have giggled til I wet my pants...fantasticly beautiful set, even if you'd paid top dollar for them...you are one lucky girl! When are we all coming over for tea?

What beautiful dishes and such a good find. I wouldn't know which to be happier to find a deal like yours, or a Singer Featherweight for a song. I probably will never discover either, but I am happy for you. I'll bet that their aunt was very happy to have her treasures in the hands of one who loves them too.
ReplyDeleteI love vintage teacups and plates especially with roses on them! What a great find and thank you for finding my blog, I have enjoyed looking through yours too and I will be back!

Oh what a great find! I'm glad you stopped. I like the colors and shape of the cup!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I can't believe you got those beautiful teacups for so cheap. What a lucky lady you are. I would have skipped to my car with the box too, giggling like a fool the whole way. Isn't it funny the sorts of things some people think are trash or "too granny like". I'm glad they do though, because that means more lovely treasures for the rest of us to find :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in today. Glad to have you participating!!
