Blue and White Pieces

Be sure and visit the other participants for
This is the start of a new week and I have a full plate already. I remember my Dad would never do anything on a Monday that was important because he said Mondays are a heavy day and the beginning of a new week and is carrying the whole week. To this day I sometimes do this also but I think that I just don't want to do it so I use this as an excuse. But sometimes it doesn't work out that way I have to do what I have to do.
Today I'm showing some of my Blue and White collection. I have so many of them because every Flea Market, Yard Sale, Garage Sale, Antique Market I always manage to find something.......and have managed to acquire quite a lot.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day everyone!!!!!

Blue Ducks

Thank you Sally for hosting "Blue Monday" for some fabulous inspiration at www.smilingsally.blogspot.com.

I have had these two ashtrays with the Ducks for ever since I can remember. They have these blue tones on them. Well actually the ashtray with all the Ducks was bought at a Yard Sale years ago and the one with the single Duck has been around my home and my Mom's for ages. Can't remember where it was purchased from and when??????

They have never had ashes in them.........

This is my fav ashtray, the ducky looks so cute trying to get a snack.

NIAGARA FALLS
This winter has been so cold and gloomy that I can hardly wait till summer.........so I put this pretty blue photo up of Niagara Falls trying to cheer myself up. We took this picture in the summer time when we visit there. It is only a bit over 1 hour from Toronto so we go quite often for a day.
This was taken from the Canadian side and the US is just on the left.
If you can see there is a lil' boat down there called The Maiden Mist.........they have those tours on both sides of the border. It looks like they have about a dozen of those boats together so you don't have to wait long to get on, b/c during the summer this whole Niagara Falls area is extremley crowded with tourists from all around.......remember it use to be 'The Honeymoon Capital'

Blue Kitty Kats

This is a collection of cats that I have..........can't remember where I got them from. They seem to have been around for a long time on my shelves.

Big kitty and a wee lil' one sleeping.

These two snap shots you can see the beautiful turquoise blue colours.

Close up of the pattern on the Kitty kats.

This another set of Kitty Kats.......not sure why they have a yellowy colour to them but they are a cobalt blue.

These are my favourite Cut/out Cookies sandwiched with raspberry jam. I got this recipe from a Canadian Living Magazine way, way back from the 80's. I cut it out and pasted it into my trusty 'keeper' recipe notebook.

..............also my two blue cobalt blue coffee mugs, I have a set of six.

All dressed up the cookies with a dusting of confectioner's sugar [icing sugar].

Here is the original recipe that I had pasted into my notebook.

Blue Dessert plate.......I have a set of six.

Naked cookies before the dusting of sugar.......they taste better with confectioner's sugar on them.

Tea Cresents
Source....... Cooking Light

My Blue and White figurines that I picked up at the Flea Market this summer.

Ingredients;
6.75 ounces all-purpose flour (about 1 1/2 cups)
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups powdered sugar, divided
5 tablespoons butter, softened
2 tablespoons canola oil
2 tablespoons 2% reduced-fat milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon aniseed, crushed

1. Preheat oven to 350°.
2. Weigh or lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife. Combine flour, cornstarch, and salt in a medium bowl, stirring with a whisk.
3. Beat 3/4 cup sugar, butter, and oil with a mixer at medium speed until light and fluffy. Add milk and vanilla; beat until well blended. Add flour mixture and aniseed; beat at low speed until blended. Chill 30 minutes. Shape dough into 32 (2-inch) logs; bend logs to form crescent shape. Arrange 16 crescents 1 inch apart on a baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 14 minutes or until edges are golden. Remove from oven; cool on pan 3 minutes. Repeat procedure with remaining 16 crescents.
4. Sift remaining 1/2 cup sugar into a medium bowl; toss warm cookies in sugar to coat. Cool completely on a wire rack.

Rolling the cookies in powdered sugar while they're still warm results in a deliciously sweet, snowy coating.
Yield: 32 cookies

Nativity

"Blue Monday" Nativity Set
Thank you Hostess Sally for hosting "Blue Monday" for some fabulous inspirational ideas and fun!...

Since it is so close to Christmas I thought I would show my Nativity Set, because Joseph and Mary and some of the Wise Men are wearing blue cloaks and clothes.

This Nativity Set is made out of crepe paper. It is very special to me because my Mom [RIP] bought it for me a long time ago. I wanted it but was newly married and on a budget at that time so she went out of her way and purchased it for me. I always remember it when I put it out on the Holidays.
Baby Jesus.

Virgin Mary.

I love the detail and expression on Mary's face........she really looks like she is praying.

Joseph just looking on.
