Scarecrows and Pumpkins........

Today is 'Outdoor Wednesday" be sure and visit http://http//asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/. and see the fun everyone is up to.

Thank you to our Susuan for being a wonderful Hostess for this fun "Outdoor Wednesday", everyone is so creative.
This scarecrow display in the corner of my front lawn.

...........what a face.

My friends display of pumpkins in fron of her home.

During Halloween my husband likes to sit in the middle of Mrs. Old Crow and Missy Pumpkin Head...........when the kids come around for 'trick or treat' he shines the flashlight in his face and moves, they all get scared and some scream and run away. BUT they always return to get their candy. I must mention that he wears a mask and costume. We can do this because here the kids come out after it gets dark in Toronto........so it is more spooky and scary. My street is so busy that last year after 275 kids we had to lock the doors. This year I'm prepared for more kids, but so far rain is in the forecast........it's still early so the weather might change.

This beautiful Maple tree is just down the street from me, the colours are so beautiful.
I remember my friend Irene and her husband planted this tree, that was 8 years ago. I thought it will take forever to grow.......well it has grown to be very, very tall. It is the only one with that gorgeous red colour the other maple trees are a golden yellow.
Hope you enjoyed the tour and have a great "Happy Halloween!"

  2. You have such an adorable display! I really liked your funny story, too. Hope the rain stays away for your Halloween! It sounds very interesting in Toronto. And I bet your house is gorgeous! Glad I found you this morning.

  3. Fantastic display for the season. I can just imagine how the kids scream and then come running back for their treats. Halloween is such fun! I've left some photos of outdoor Halloween decor that I've been photographing as I see them. If you have time, stop by and take a look. Happy Halloween ~ Sarah

  7. I bet you made these scarecrows. You did a super job. We have trickers after dark, too. This year, I'm going to leave the treats on the porch and go to the church's festival. We only have about 10 trickers and most have parents with them. I have lived where we had over a 100. I would turn out the light but that doesn't keep them from coming if they can tell you are home.

  9. Love the Halloween displays! My neighbor used to scare the kids too. He had his yard all decorated and he would sit on a low branch in his oak tree and as soon as they were even with the tree, he would jump down but only if they were older kids not the very young ones. Man, oh man did the kids scream! They too always came back to get their candy!

    Thanks for sharing with us!

  10. Dear Erica,

Thank you for visiting my blog and for your kind comments. It is a beautiful surprise for me to have a Canadian reader married to a gentleman from Izmir! :-) The scarecrows in your garden are wonderful! I wish you and your family a Happy Halloween and good luck with those hundreds of candy-seeking children! :-)

    Best regards,
