Last week we decided to go to Niagara Falls on the American side....to do some shopping. The prices are great and even though we have the same exact retail stores in Toronto we still like to go over for a few days.
This photo I took standing on the Rainbow Bridge crossing over to the border in the car.....it was sort of stand still traffic, I would have thought there was no Holiday of any kind so why the traffic?......the reason was that it was Reading Week and everybody was taking a few days off to shop I guess.
American on the left side and Canadian on the right side.
This is the American side........it was a cold, grey, gloomy and wet day so the mist was freezing as it was going into the air....that is why it looks so cloudy.

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY!!!!
Saw a show some friends presented of their autumn tour of New England and Canada - it included the Falls - it doesn't tempt me really and I'm certainly not tempted by casinos and retail stores so think I'll give it a miss.
ReplyDeleteYou shouldn't say it doesn't tempt you if you have never been.....the view is amazing. I have friends from around the world and they are in awe when they see the Falls.....you don't have to see the casinos' it's just gorgeous the parks around for relaxing and picnicking. The area is huge so it takes a day to walk around there....and plus there is a small Village around there with lots of things to do and see. .....and it is the Niagara wine region if your interested in wines....lots to see there.

Sounds inviting. I would love to visit some day.
ReplyDeleteI also posted a view of the Falls....
ReplyDeleteand yes, you can easily ignore the tacky side of NF. In fact, I went to Clifton Hill (on a photo hunt expedition) and it was the first time I had been there in at least 2 decades, yet I go to the Falls 7-8 times a year!
I hate saying it, but the Canadian side IS more built up. Which is why stuff on the American side is a bit cheaper. I went to a chain store in NY, and about a third of the plates were from Ontario.

ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and nice comment.
Hope you are enjoying your week.
I adore Niagra Falls...did you see the dancing mist maidens? I've never seen Niagra from the Canadian side...it is as lovely as what I remember from the American side.
ReplyDeleteHaven't been there but would love to, someday!
