Blue and White Pieces

Be sure and visit the other participants for
This is the start of a new week and I have a full plate already. I remember my Dad would never do anything on a Monday that was important because he said Mondays are a heavy day and the beginning of a new week and is carrying the whole week. To this day I sometimes do this also but I think that I just don't want to do it so I use this as an excuse. But sometimes it doesn't work out that way I have to do what I have to do.
Today I'm showing some of my Blue and White collection. I have so many of them because every Flea Market, Yard Sale, Garage Sale, Antique Market I always manage to find something.......and have managed to acquire quite a lot.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day everyone!!!!!

Raspberry Cake

Be sure and visit the other participants for some yummy food at

I had to put these pictures in. These French lilacs grow right outside my breakfast room. They are a gorgeous deep purple. Last fall my husband cut them quite low because the bush was getting quite large and when it rained it was leaning right to the ground. So.......this year we got a small amount of blooms but next year it will be nice and full.
In two days when the sun was shining and it was warm the French Lilacs opened to this gorgeous deep purple colour.

RASPBERRY CAKE
This cake is from one of the other boards I'm on and it came from Anne of Thibeault's Table and she got it from a 1985 Canadian Living Magazine.
This cake is very light and delish.........I always have these ingredients on hand and it was quick and esay to make.
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup sour cream
1 cup raspberries
Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a bowl sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt.
In another bowl beat butter and sugar til' creamy and add eggs.
Beat well and add vanilla.
Mix in flour and sour cream.
Fold in raspberries.
Pour into a 9 inch springform pan and bake 35 to 40 minutes or til' done.
*****I have also substituted the berries for blueberries and it was very delish too....or for company I've added a dollop of whipped creme.
............. ready to eat and enjoy but just waiting for my tea.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
Your comments are always appreciated and fun to receive!

Turkish Bazzar

See more participants here at asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com

TURKISH OUTDOOR BAZZAR

Last week my husband Don just came back from Turkey after being there for a month visiting family and mostly some business. I couldn't go this time because I got clot in my leg and the Doctor advised that I better not fly in an airplane a far distance. Due to the cramped seating conditions..............and in the air for hours and hours. So it goes, but next year I'm going for sure.
This photo is an Olive vendor.........any kind of flavour or variety you want they have.

This Bazzar is in the coastal city in Turkey called Izmir. Almost everday throughout the city in some locations they have Bazzars. This one in particular is on Thursdays.........and I mean every Thursday. It was raining this particular Thureday so they had put out huge tents to cover the rainfall, but most days it is all in the open and extremely crowded and noisy. The reason for the noise is the vendors yell something about their products.........I must admit I never heard such loud voices some of them have.
Lettuces and greenery..........

Some lil' lady was selling this salad..........so yummy. I believe they call it a "Gypsy Salad".

Fishies..........very fresh probably caught that same day. Notice they have no refrigeration.....and my husband said no one ever gets food poisioning.

Clothes galore.........

Slippers........anybody's home you go into they hand you slippers. Absolutely no outdoor shoes in the home. I like that because that is how my Family was when I was growing up.

Wallets...........any knock/off you want??????

Purses..............

Jewels.............costume. The real stuff is all behind glass.

T-shirts........

Sunglasses.

These purses are only a couple of bucks.

This only a fraction of the Bazzar.........it is very big with a couple thousand vendors and customers........when I go there I spend about 8 hours and still I've missed some stalls.
Another olive vendor...........

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!!!!!

Red Tulips

Tulips
Visit our Hostess Mary at "Ruby Tuesday" for some inspiration and fun.
I had to post these photo's of these 'red' tulips..........because there is a story behind them.
In my backyard I have this Lilac tree and underneath there is a bunch of these red tulips growing every year. Well for some resaon this particular squirrel rips the tulip heads off. This year I beat him.......and left a few tulips and when I looked the next day the tulip heads were ripped off. It's funny because there are other tulips around but for some reason he targets these..........or he knows that I'm watching him.

I put these into a vase and in a couple of hours when you look through the other photos they have opened up.

Thanks for stopping by and I love comments!!!!!!

Blue Waters

Thank you Sally for hosting "Blue Monday"at

"Blue" Aegean Sea in Turkey

Last month my husband went to Turkey to visit some relatives and also do business. I didn't go with him this time due to health reasons and our daughter was still in school and I didn't want to leave a 20 year old by herself for a month. These are just some photo's of the gorgeous colours of the Aegean sea.

Cesme, Turkey...........it wasn't too busy there because it's still not warm enough to swim but during the summer months you can't even get a Hotel room. Lots of beaches, hotels, restaurants and beautiful resorts.
We like to go here sometimes when we are there for a Fish dinner. Daily the fisherman catch and bring in fresh fish and the restaurants prepare it for you........so good. With a nice salad, ahhhhh memories.

Izmir, Turkey. This is the city where my husband grew up. It's right on the Aegean Sea.......... he still has a sister who lives here.

Cesme, Turkey.

Cesme, Turkey. Blue waters and blue skies.

Lonestar State Cheesecake

Be sure and visit "Foodie Friday" at Designs By Gollum.
Lonestar State Cheesecake
(Recipe adapted from Christina Common Tuschen by Sunny Anderson)

This turned out to be one of my favourite cheesecakes of all time............in my neck of the woods we don't have any Cheesecake Factory Restaurants in Toronto. But, but when we go to Buffalo for our shopping trips we always stop in for some cheesecake. Then I found Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes in the frozen section of Sam's. To make my story shorter they closed them all down the Sam's shopping stores here for some reason. Well I was heartbroken till I found this recipe watching Sunny Anderson on her cooking show. I made this recipe and my Family gave it a thumb's up!!!!!!
2 cups cinnamon graham cracker crumbs
6 to 8 Tbsp. butter melted
4 (8 oz.) pakages cream cheese, softened
1 1/4 cups sugar, plus
2 Tbsp. sugar
2 Tbsp. vanilla extract
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
4 eggs, beaten
2 cups sour cream
1 pint blueberries
1 pint strawberiies, sliced

9 inch springform pan.......

Preheat oven to 325 deg.F.
In a food processor blend crumbs and melted butter till moist but not wet.
Press into the bottom and up the sides of the springform pan.
In a large bowl, using an electric beater, combine cream cheese, 1 cup sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla and the lemon juice, till light and smooth.
Slowly mix in eggs then pour into the prepared pan.
Bake 55 minutes or until the center sets.
Turn off oven and remove cake.

In a medium bowl mix together sour cream, 1/4 cup sugar and vanilla.
Spread this over the top of the cheesecake and return to the warm oven for 30 minutes.
Remove then let cool to room temperature before removing springform.

Meanwhile, in a small bowl toss together blueberries and sliced strawberries with remaing sugar.

To serve.........slice cheesecake into wedges and serve with fruit.
I sometimes use different fruits like raspberries, peaches, basically whatever fruits are in season...............or some kind of sauce for example chocolate.

...............here we had it with whole strawberries.
