Today I'm joining Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for the first time for Tabletop Tuesday. Be sure and visit the other participants for some inspiration and fun.
This is on top of my piano that I have in a corner in my house. It's an old piano from the 1950's. I actually picked it up at a yard sale. It was a steal and my daughter was lil' and I wanted her to play the piano like I use to. She didn't want to really take lessons so I thought at this price I'll buy this piano and if she's better interested in her later years we would get a nice Baby Grand. ........but as you can see she played for 6 years and decided to quit.........I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
Here's another tid bit for this piano purchase...........my husband is originally years and years ago from Turkey so every once in a while he likes to visit his childhood home.........well when he's gone by himself for a month this is when I buy big purchases and this was one of them. I could go on and tell you what I have purchased in the last 25 years when he goes away himself to Turkey and I stay behind due to business......but another time.
I have a very vast collection of Blue ad Whites which I keep in vignettes all over my home. The picture behind was my Mom's that I inherited, so it brings back memories.
This brass thingy is called a Samovar..........I actually have a few different ones. Also in silver that I have from my side of the Family from the Ukraine. But this brass one is from Turkey, it was used in the old days for tea. When I visist Turkey there are a few places where you can order one of these Samovar's and they bring the whole thing to your table and you can serve yourself in these small glass cups with no handles. They look like large shot glasses. The tea is so good and I'm not a tea drinker really.
You have an incredible collection.
ReplyDeleteIt must be wonderful to have so many beautiful heirloom pieces.

ReplyDeleteOh Erica, what gorgeous blue and white pieces. I am just now starting a collection, but nothing as lovely and grand as your pieces. They are all stunning. I love the vignette you have created, it is just lovely. Thanks so much for joining the party, this has been a real treat. Hugs, Marty

You have some very gorgeous pieces. I love the blue and white. And that Samovar is stunning. What a unique piece. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is beautiful. I love it all
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I found your site I have linked up, and I am now following you. Pop on over and see mine. I would love to hear from you.
Very elegant.
Beautiful and elegant things! NOT the sort of things you might find at a garage sale..then again...who knows. :) It could (not likely) happen. Your tabletop things are just lovely!!
ReplyDeleteErica -- it's a lovely piano top -- of course, I LOVE the blue and white! And the samovar! Lovely things all!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I do the same when DH is gone -- huge garage sales (he doesn't know what is sold!), repaint or paper a room, and buy BIG things!
You have a pretty collection. The tea samovor is nice, I don't think I've ever seen one.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful treasures you have on top of the piano. I love all of the blue and white. So interesting to learn about the samovor. Your monkey lamp is adorable, and that figurene you gave your mother is lovely. I had to laugh about your big purchases when your husband is away - that's so funny! I often buy things when my husband isn't around. I love to see how many months it will take for him to notice something! We ate at a new dining table for months before a visitor asked if it was new, and he realized that it was! laurie
