Blue and Whites

Thank you Hostess Sally for hosting "Blue Monday" for some fabulous inspirational ideas and fun!...

Be sure and visit the other participants at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/

Today I'm showing a Blue and White pedestal bowl I have and a large plate. I bought these from The Bombay Company a lil' while back. I love that store, they have some very pretty things. I try and stay away from that store when I go to a mall......because more then likely I'll come home with a 'blue and white'.

This is the pedestal bowl, I put a clementine 'mandarin' orange so you could see the size. Those darn clementines, you buy a box full of them. Then you hand them out to the neighbours kids, put in your lunch bags and hand them out at work, eat them while snacking and you look in the refridgerature and WOW! there still is a ton more.

Cloe/up of the pedestal.

Inside the pedestal bowl.

Together with my plate........I usually like to keep this plate with nothing on it, it's so pretty.

Blue and White plate.

Close up of the plate........pretty design.

Going Green

Thank you to Susan for hosting "OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY".

I was thinking what could I post today for Outdoor Wednesday.........then I remembered that it was a beautiful Fall day today and I had hung up my laundry in the corner of my backyard. This will probably be the last week that I will hang my laundry outside as the cold, wintery and blustery winter will settle in soon.

In the summer I try to hang as much laundry outside as possible as to save energy and my electrical bill.......plus I love the smell of fresh laundry when you bring it into the house. But I must point out I do have one of those new front load washer and dryers. Which..... when winter comes I will have to use the dryer, or sometimes I have this rack and just hang some there, depending what it is I've washed that day in the basement.

Today it was 'whites'.......but I did manage to do a separate machine with my daughter's hoodies.

This is through my beautiful deep purple French Lilac Tree that my husband tried to trim this year. I hope it will be okay as he really scalped it.

Took a break in between hanging up the laundry and tried to get some Vitamin D's sitting in the sun.
Be sure and visit http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/ for some fun....... :-)

Thank you for stopping by. Have a great day!!!!!!!

Tea For "One"

Hi to everyone visiting 'Tea Things Tuesdays' at http://shabbypinkandpretty.blogspot.com/.

Thanks to Kim for hosting this and be sure to check out everyone and all their 'tea' treasures!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today I'm showing my Tea for One teapot and teacup with saucer. This is my favourite set with the Tulips as they are my most favourite flower. In the spring I fill my home with different colours of Tulips all over in vases. I think that after a cold and blustery winter that is why I welcome them so much. It feels like spring to me then with colour and freshness.

My favourite time is when I retire to my favourite sofa with a good book and make myself a cup of Green Tea or Earl Grey in this teapot............so I hope you enjoy my tour of my teapot and teacup.

Teapot on top and teacup on the bottom.

Teacup.........look at the gorgeous illustrations of the Tulips on the teacup.

Have a great "TEA THINGS TUESDAY" and enjoy what the other participants are showing at .............http://shabbypinkandpretty.blogspot.com/.
I enjoy reading all your comments and hope to hear from you.!

Blue Square Bowls

To see more of "BLUE MONDAY" be sure and visit our Hostess Sally at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/

Today for "BLUE MONDAY" I'm showing these two bowls that I have. I purchased them in a small town called Niagara-on-the-Lake in this lil' gift store........when I saw them I knew I had to have them. If you are ever in Niagara Falls this town is a must to see..........there are gorgeous gift stores there and antiques shops. I'm not sure who makes these bowls because on the back is one smooshed up label, looking more like a blob of black ink. But where ever they are from I love them. The bigger one I sometimes put flowers in on a table for special occassions and the little one sort of floats around the house.

Here they are together the smaller and larger square bowls.

Close up look at the front of the bowl.

Side view of the bowl, the design goes right around.

This is the inside of the bowl, it also has this beautiful scene in on the inside.

This is the smaller bowl.

Close up of the details on the smaller bowl.

Stuffed Eggplant

Thank you to our wonderful Hostess Susan for hosting this "Foodie Friday". Stop by for some fun and exciting recipes and fabulous pictures at http://designsbygollum.blogspot.com/
STUFFED EGGPLANT
Today I'm doing a recipe that is my husband Don's favourite meal........it really is a Turkish dish called 'Karniyarik'. His Mom use to make it when he was growing up. I learned to make this dish when I went over to visit his family over 20 years ago and have ever since been making it for him. I usually double the recipe.........I serve it with buttered rice and a nice green salad of some sorts on the side and a slice of crusty bread to mop up some of the sauce. It is also good with a dollop of tzatziki on the side.
Sometimes if I have left/over filling I like to take an onion scoop it out and fill it up also.

Stuffed Eggplant

4 Eggplants [small size]

1/2 cup sunflower or canola oil

1 cup broth [chicken] with 1 Tbsp. tomato paste
Eggplant Filing;
1/2 lb. lean ground beef [or turkey]
1 green pepper, chopped [I use the Italian Green pepper, Cubanelle]
1 onion, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
2-3 garlic cloves, minced
2 Tbsp. chopped parsley
1 Tbsp. tomato paste
1 cup water or broth [I use chicken broth]
Salt and Pepper to taste

1. Take eggplant and peel alternating strips of skin lengthwise. Sprinkle with salt and set aside for 30 minutes., Wash and squeeze them dry with paper towel.
2. Heat canola oil in a skillet over medium heat and saute eggplants till nicely browned and soft.
3. Cut a slit in each eggplant and use the back of the spoon to make a well for the filling. Be sure not to slit through the eggplant......to make sure they don't fall apart.

filling;
1. Meanwhile saute all the ingredients on medium heat, stirring constantly till most of the liquid evaporates.
2. Fill the eggplants with the filling.
3. Place a slice of tomato or slice of green pepper on each eggplant......put into a baking dish or pan.
4. Pour 1 cup of water [broth] with 1 Tbsp. of tomato paste into the pan on the sides of the eggpalnts.
5. Cover and bake for 30 to 45 minutes til' done at 350 degrees.

For decoration I like to add some dill or parsley.

Ready to go into the oven.......

Baked.........yummmmm.
Thank you for stopping by........don't forget to stop by http://designsbygollum.blogspot.com/
Happy Foodie Friday!!!!!!

Cranberry Glass.............

Welcome to "THRIFTY THURSDAY" hosted by Leigh of

http://lbratina.blogspot.com/ Today I'm showing some Cranberry Glasses that I picked up at a Garage Sale.......this summer. It was two ladies and a husband who were selling their lil' neighbours stuff, well some of it but the rest of the stuff was theirs.

They were originally asking $10 for the four Cranberry glasses, they said they were well over a 100 years old and belonged to the lil' old ladies Grandmother. I told them I will take them if I can get them for $4 and after some hmmmm's and ahh's they said 'okay'. It was kind of late and they wanted to pack it in so I guess that is why I got a bargain.....otherwise they will probably just be sitting away in the basement in a box.

Close look at the details.
My Mom got me started collecting Cranberry Glass, she had a vast collection.

Thank you for stopping by and be sure and visit http://lbratina.blogspot.com/ to see other treasures.
Happy Thrifty Thursday!!!!!
